What a Painter does
A painter prepares and finishes internal and external surfaces. Most of the work is preparation rather than paint: filling, sanding, masking, and priming, because the finish a client inspects is decided before the top coat goes on.
Day to day
- Fill, sand, and prepare surfaces before coating
- Mask and protect adjacent finishes and fittings
- Apply primer, undercoat, and finish coats evenly
- Work by brush, roller, and spray as the finish requires
- Touch up and close out snagging items

- Two or more years of commercial painting experience
- Strong surface preparation, not only application
- Confident with spray equipment and its safety requirements
- Comfortable working from scaffold and access equipment
